Boyle Elected Secretary/Treasurer of AAPOR
John Boyle, Executive Vice President of Abt SRBI, has been elected as Secretary/Treasurer of the American Association of Public Opinion Research. He will join the 15-member AAPOR Council as Associate Secretary/Treasurer for 2008-2009. He will then serve as AAPOR Secretary/Treasurer for 2009-2010.
Boyle served as president of the Baltimore-Washington chapter of AAPOR in 2006. He was one of the organizers of the 2007 DC AAPOR Non-Response Workshop. During 2007-2008, he served on the AAPOR Cell Phone Task Force, which has recently issued its report, "Guidelines and Considerations for Survey Researchers When Planning and Conducting RDD and Other Telephone Surveys in the U.S. With Respondents Reached via Cell Phone Numbers".
Boyle received his doctorate from Columbia University, where he subsequently served on the research faculty of the School of Public Health. He has taught at several universities, including the University of Maryland where he served on the graduate teaching faculty. His publications appear in a number of recent health journals, including Medicine, Academic Medicine, the American Journal of Public Health, the American Journal of Psychiatry, the Journal of Clinical Immunology, Allergy and Asthma Proceedings, and the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
He was a senior partner of SRBI from 1987 until it was acquired by Abt Associates in July 2007. Prior to joining SRBI, he had served as Senior Vice President for Government Research at Louis Harris and Associates.
