Schulman Named POQ Poll Review Editor
January 3, 2006
Mark Schulman has been appointed Poll Review Editor of Public Opinion Quarterly, one of the most widely cited refereed journals in the social sciences, effective immediately.
Founded in 1937, Public Opinion Quarterly is published by Oxford University Press. POQ selectively publishes important theoretical contributions to opinion and communication research, analyses of current public opinion, and investigations of methodological issues involved in survey validity-- including questionnaire construction, interviewing and interviewers, sampling strategy, and mode of administration.
The Poll Review Editor commissions and reviews widely publicized surveys that are not ordinarily subject to peer review because their reports do no usually appear in journals or books. Schulman served on the Board of Editors of Public Opinion Quarterly prior to being named to his present post.
Schulman is President of Schulman, Ronca, & Bucuvalas, Inc. (SRBI), an international market and opinion research firm headquartered in New York City. Schulman specializes in election and public opinion surveys.
He was 2002-2003 President of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR). He is also on the Board of the Council of American Survey Research Organizations (CASRO) and a member of the American Marketing Association, European Society for Opinion and Market Research (ESOMAR), and World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR).
He has taught at several universities, including Rutgers, where he was a Senior Project Director of the Eagleton Institute Poll. His graduate degrees were awarded by the University of Wisconsin, Madison (M.A.) and by Rutgers University (Ph.D.).
