In-depth Attitude and Usage Studies of Specific Transportation Corridors The Southwest Brooklyn Comprehensive Service Planning Study conducted for MTA and New York City Transit saw SRBI interview over 3,000 Southwest Brooklyn residents about transit usage and origins and destinations in that area. In a shorter version of the questionnaire, approximately 2,000 respondents evaluated proposed service concepts. The results from this study helped NYC Transit develop new routing and scheduling to enhance service in this area. In another project for Metro-North Railroad (MNR), SRBI conducted a comprehensive study of inbound and outbound travelers utilizing Metro North services and other transportation options serving the City's northern suburbs. For this study, over 1,600 MNR commuters, occasional users and non-users were contacted using RDD techniques along with an additional sample of 400 residents of the Co-op City housing project in the Northeast Bronx. The objective was to assess the market demand for new rail services feeding Penn Station from the northern suburbs while serving the northeast Bronx on route. Demand estimates were created on a respondent and trip basis showing the cumulative impact on both Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal. |
